Columbus Police Face Backlash After Failing to Protect Child.

COLUMBUS – The Columbus city police department is facing major backlash after a viral video showed them failing to uphold their duty to protect and serve.

While alternative outlets have already established that law enforcement holds no constitutional mandate to intervene to save someone’s life, Columbus police are taking this lack of utility to the next level by going after the victim of a suspected child predator.

In a now viral video circulating around social media, a Columbus father, known as Billy Blocka on Twitter, contacted police to attempt to make a report regarding an adult male who had solicited and manipulated his 11-year-old daughter for illicit pictures on the internet. Blocka had wanted to file an official report on the individual to ensure justice was served on the suspected child predator. In the video, taken from his Ring doorbell, police arrive at around midnight, refuse to investigate the predator and instead threaten to charge the young girl for “making child porn.”

Federally, 18 U.S.C. § 2251 clearly states that it is illegal to ‘persuade, induce, entice, or coerce a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for purposes of producing visual depictions of that conduct.’ In the video, the father clearly pushes back and uses explicit language which should have tipped officers off to the specific legal violation of the child predator, but instead stuck to blaming the victim and ending the potential for an investigation which could have seen the predator brought to justice.

“She’s eleven years old,” the father said. “She’s being manipulated by a grown-ass adult on the internet.”

In response to this, one of the responding officers simply stated, ‘It doesn’t matter, she’s still making porn.’

According to Blocka, the call represented the first time he had ever needed to contact police for assistance, though based on their response, few would doubt if it was his last. According to Blocka, the man who solicited his daughter is still attempting to contact her via social media.

When the video went viral, Columbus police department issued a statement on Twitter indicating that they take matters of exploitation very seriously, a stark contrast to how their trained officers handled the situation in question.

“The Division of Police regards all allegations of sexual misconduct with the utmost seriousness. Incidents involving minors are handled with the highest degree of concern. Sexual Assault Unit detectives were immediately notified of the incident and have since initiated an investigation,” the statement said.

The situation recorded does seem completely in line with the current direction of policing today, which protects and insulates exploitative child drag shows and targets parents displeased with schoolboards that thrust pornographic literature into course curriculums. According to the statement, the officers in question are currently under investigation with the inspector general, though one may ask if this is because the officers failed to uphold the law or because they were simply caught this time failing to do so. There has not been any formal update on the investigation regarding the alleged child predator.
